The Great Hammerhead Stakeout

Michael Lombardi is a career diving contractor and technologist who has amassed more than 5000 dives, primarily in the inshore marine construction and scientific fields. His Rhode Island based business design/builds custom rebreathers, imaging equipment, scientific collection devices, and related specialized tooling. His work on deep coral reef exploration has been funded by the National Geographic Society, and resulted in the discovery of a new fish species, Derilissus lombardii. In 2021 Michael’s patented underwater habitat ‘tent’ technology was used to facilitate a ten hour long dive in Andros, Bahamas which was the focus of a Discovery+ Shark Week Special called ‘The Great Hammerhead Stakeout’. Michael will present the film and be available to answer questions relating to the technical aspects of this exciting project.
