Living Sharks Museum is America’s First Shark History Museum featuring artifacts from around the world that detail and preserve the story of the shark. Our collections are aimed to educate from an unbiased perspective featuring exhibits of shark history, science and conservation. Living Sharks Museum, curated by Keith Cowley, houses his personal collection as an educational resource and outreach initiative. Admission is always free.

Beachcombers Wanted! The Rhode Island Eggcase Survey (RIES) organized by Living Sharks Museum, is actively monitoring public beaches across RI for all elasmobranch (sharks, skates, & rays) eggcases. The data is being compiled as part of a coastal species monitoring initiative. Learn More: RIES Sign-Up

We’re excited to announce that our first installation has concluded and was a great success! Living Sharks Museum features a limited and transitional Museum Gallery of art that captures the story of the shark. Gallery viewings are available during museum hours and by appointment. We’re growing! Living Sharks Museum has accepted a larger space in the adjacent building at 47 High Street in historic downtown Westerly, a timely opportunity to spread our fins and grow even closer to our mission goals! That means more exhibits, more educational programs & onsite events. and a bigger Museum Shop! We’re so excited! Thanks to you we had an amazing summer after navigating the past year’s challenges. We couldn’t have done it without you! The new Living Sharks Museum has opened as of October 30th, 2021!
Our Curator Keith Cowley has been inducted onto the Advisory Board at the Shark Research Institute (SRI) sharks.org making Living Sharks Museum an affiliate organization. Together we can help protect sharks through strong ethical science projects, progressive technology, urgent conservation methods and fact-based education.
